YOU CAN'T TELL A BOOK BY IT'S COVER
Students of KTU have a crucial and pivotal role to play when
it comes to the implementation of the
well being of characters in this our noble institution. We can only talk about
an inclusive society if the political decision makers are intimately convinced
of the need to include persons with disabilities fully in our societies.
Persons with disabilities have indeed the right to enjoy their political rights
on an equal basis with others. This includes the right to vote and be voted for
and defend their rights as citizens.
Sketchily, Disability is as most people would describe it;
"A state of the body", which is in contrary. More figuratively,
"Disability is a state of the mind". The word ‘DISABILITY’ isn’t apt
enough to tally with its negative social connotations as imperfect human
beings. We're all defective in our own ways. Some pieces of our speech
patterns, opinions and outlooks, our body language, mannerism, our overly or
under skillfulness will always be a deviation from some societal convention,
norm or value.
Consequentially then, we are all Disabled. It is therefore
hypocritical to reserve the term ‘Disabled’ for the physically challenged
alone, neglecting the socially and emotionally incapacitated, the prideful,
lazy, and the foul-mouthed, the hateful etc.
All these slated facts balls back to the reason as to why
one self acclaimed student activist in the person of Issah Monney, using my
situation as a yardstick, propagating to the student populace to ignore me all
because "I can't wear shoes"
To put it on record, Franklin Roosevelt was elected as President of United State of
America in November 1932 to serve the first four terms in their Democratical
dispensation. The most interesting part of his story is of the fact that "He
was in a wheelchair". The citizens of the United State of America didn't
look at his condition/situation but voted for him and his contribution towards
the growth of their country has brought them to this far. For that reason i have confidence that his story won't be different
from mine.
The foresight needed by great leaders to run SRC isn’t the
product of the impeccable state of one not being able to wear shoe but then
Great leaders are the ones who make their wisest decision in the dark; with the
eyes of their heart and the heart of their minds.
Samuel Mbima has the
biggest heart and a brain that just won’t quit. "The sound of the sea will
never prevent the fish from sleeping".
I'm beyond doubt which I believe going into this year's
election is not about appearance and how beautiful or handsome one may look but
it's about who can deliver when given the mandate. I believe we all put fore
the application of deductive logic to disregard these concocted stories.
I would also entreat my Team ie TEAM #SM,
Supporters and Sympathizers we are at a
crossroad as a team. We all need to close our ranks and let our campaigning be
at best civil and decorous, devoid of
rancour. We are one people shielded under the same umbrella here in KTU. e are just
resizing ourselves in the quest to win the upcoming src elections so let's not
go "Hunting for an ant whiles an Elephant awaits us".
I also urge all the entire student populace of KTU to
stay focus and defend what is right and by continuous justification. Let no one
be extremely scandalized by what Issah Monney and his cohorts are
propagating. I hereby seek the support
and prayers from the entire student populace in my quest to serve the
interest of students.
Lets all get our shoulders to the wheel and move in solid
unity for the betterment of our Student Representative Council .
Thank you and may the Almighty God continue to bless us
all....
